Untitled Selves

Evolving from his earlier portraits and self-portraits, Frank Rodick's Untitled Selves—a set of eighteen images, completed in 2017—stand as another stage of his engagement with memory, mortality, and the medium of portraiture. These self-portraits are stripped, flayed even—emptied of colour, and stark in contrast, images in an active state of flux and dissolution. They suggest something beyond evanescence—an unmooring perhaps, and a sense that life is "as much syncope as it is experience.
